A monkey ascends a greased pole - PS - (<600)
A monkey ascends a greased pole 12 meters high. He ascends 2 meters in the first minute and then slips down 1 meter in the alternate minute. If this pattern continues until he climbs the pole , in how many minutes would he reach at the top of the pole ?
A) 10th minute
B) 21st minute
C)12th minute

This question is a bit tricky because we can work out an average speed, but we must take in to account how when the monkey gets to 10 meters, he is able to achieve the top without any slip down.
Therefore, until the 10 meters, he spends 2 min for every meter = 20 minutes.
Once there, he is able to ascends 2 meters in 1 minute = 1 minute.
Total = 20 min (first 10 meters) + 1 min (last 2 meters) = 21 min
Answer: B
